Our mission is to support, inspire, and empower each other with our shared resources, skills, platforms, and networks. The Women's DARE Network serves as a container to facilitate members’ individual and collective goals. Our common bond is in our shared level of dedication and passion for our chosen activities, but our strength is in our diversity. We encourage membership from all demographics and backgrounds, and while our mission is to foster female involvement in activities, we welcome members of any gender identity.

Meet The Team
Sara Montgomery is a longtime trail, snowshoe and mountain running athlete who coaches under Spafford Health and Adventure. She has raced in events as diverse as stage races over the Colorado mountains and in Canada's far North in winter, and trail ultra distances up to 100 km, with many podium finishes. Sara loves being in nature in all seasons, whether it is daily trail or snowshoe runs, fastpacking adventures, or exploring mountain regions. She has written about her adventures for Canadian Running, More, Women's Sport + Fitness, Snowshoe Magazine, and Trail Runner, and was a member of the La Sportiva Mountain Running Team from 2006 to 2018. She enjoys working with athletes to help them achieve their personal race or adventure goals through individualized coaching and mentorship.
Michelle McShane has enjoyed an active lifestyle since she was a child, and she shares that passion with her two outdoor loving boys and husband, an outdoor-educator. At Trailhead Kingston, she wears the many hats of manager, buyer, paddling instructor, and guide, and works tirelessly to bring the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to Kingston each winter. Michelle got started in triathlons when her second son was born, but it was the team aspect of Adventure Racing that fully got her hooked. She has raced up to 30 hours through the wilderness, and finds balancing her training and racing with the other areas of her life enhances everything. She was encouraged by other women to take her adventurous nature into the racing scene originally, and has paid it forward by encouraging others to do the same. She is the co-founder of ‘Race the Cat’ which brought the sport of Adventure Racing to Kingston.
